ASMP seems to be getting on board the PhotoCine bus

I recently received an invitation from the Los Angeles chapter of the ASMP for an educational event targeted at photographers who want to learn more about adding video and multimedia to their repertoire.

MULTIMEDIA and VIDEO WORKSHOP
Are your clients asking about video or multimedia? (If not, they will soon.) Are you wondering how to get started? Worried about the learning curve?

Photographers Paula Lerner and Gail Mooney have expanded their markets using multimedia and video, and will take some of the mystery out of the process – the technical as well as the business requirements.

Learn how photographers apply skills they already have to these new outlets. Lerner and Mooney will share their work and discuss the basics of each medium, including the need for good audio and careful lighting.

This is a four-hour seminar: all solid, no filler.

I’m encouraged to see one of the national photo organizations recognizing the importance of adapting to the changes that are upon us. It’s interesting to me that the lead question is “Are your clients asking about video or multimedia? (If not, they will soon.)”

The context for my enthusiasm is that, a scant 4 months ago Michael Britt and I were prohibited from posting information about the Collision Conference on the national APA forums because the conference was “not relevant” to the membership. I think that photographers are really waking up to the new realities that we’re talking about here at PhotoCine news and I’m glad that we’re not alone any more.
