More info on Canon 5D MK2 firmware
There have been a lot of rumors about firmware coming for the Canon 5D Mk2 that will allow 24fps shooting (instead of just the 30 fps it shipped with). Mitch from Planet5D has linked to a youtube video from last months HD expo where my friend Neil Smith from RAWworks hosted a great VDSLR seminar. This video shows Tim Smith from Canon discussing what is coming down the pipeline. Beware, the sound is horrible but if you listen though headphones it helps.
On the video, Tim talks about how the camera originated as a tool for the Associated Press and Reuters so that their news photographers could easily grab some video while on assignment. He gets to the nitty gritty at the 5:00 minute mark when he goes over the “soft announcement” with some graphics and details. BTW, you can find a link to the European press release that Tim is talking about on the 5D Mark II Camera Improvements blog.
Thanks to Mitch at Planet5D and everyone else who wants to take credit for spreading the news about this video.
