A delightful breakfast browsing slidehow: “Six:AM”

Spanish photographer Xavi Catalá is publishing a series of web slideshows that do a little more than your standard portfolio web page, and require fewer clicks that your standard photography blog.
His invention is called “Six:AM” and it comprises a series of zine-like episodes. Each one has a title and a theme, or tells a simple story. There’s no need for clicking; just open and sit back and watch.
New episodes are added as and when, but whenever there is an update, it happens at 6am (Spanish time, of course: GMT+1). The idea, as Catalá makes clear, is to create something “you can enjoy with your breakfast coffee.”
Today’s web makes portfolio presentation as easy as grabbing a blog or installing Gallery or Zenphoto on a web server. But like blogs, these days there are so many web portfolios that it’s easy to blend into the background. Making your work stand out requires just a little more – not more work, necessarily, but perhaps a little more imagination. And that’s what you can see on show at Xavi Catalá’s web site.
