Hi Michael, Thanks so much. I'm new to shooting video with my 35 mm camera, but I produce a lot of video these days and I've worked as a still photographer on a lot of documentary film shoots, so I had the advantage of directing some really great DPs and tried to channel what I've learned from them into this shoot. Then I hired a terrific editor who works on Final Cut Pro, and we slogged it out together over a very long 3-day weekend, writing it as we edited, and making revisions as the client weighed in at key junctures (actually I had two editors working at the same time as there were ultimately 6 versions created for different audiences, messages, and lengths). As for transcoding, there was a flurry of initial technical activity to get the footage files into their edit system since none of us had worked with that video format. I'll add that info to this comment chain as soon as I hear back from the editors on the particulars. Thanks again.

Very compelling images and storytelling. David, I know from speaking to Lou that you are new to shooting motion. Can you talk a little about how you put this piece together. Did you use iMovie or a more powerful editing program like Final Cut or Premier? How did you transcode the files etc... This was a pretty quick turn around and I am sure a lot of news photographers new to shooting video would like to hear about your experience.
