Hollywood Wrap-Up — Oscar Edition

I feel like there’s something big happening in Hollywood this weekend…oh, right, it’s the 82nd Annual Academy Awards! You can’t blame me for momentarily forgetting. Everyone knows Mo’Nique is a lock for Best Supporting Actress and people may riot if Jeff Bridges isn’t recognized for his work in “Crazy Heart.” As for the heads-up battle between a certain multimillion-dollar blockbuster starring blue aliens and the Little Iraq War Movie That Could, the press has been trying hard to get us invested in the outcome, but so far it hasn’t worked. Both films are so radically different, in all aspects, that it’s virtually impossible to compare them. As for behind-the-scenes Oscar buzz, well, we all know that yesterday Sarah Palin and her entourage stormed the gift tent at the Kodak and made off with a bunch of free stuff. But believe it or not, there’s more Oscar coverage to be found, if you look hard enough…

Nicholas Chartier is that producer who sent around an email asking his friends to vote for “The Hurt Locker” over “Avatar.” He got barred from the Oscars. Now the industry has rallied around him and is even throwing him his own Oscar Party. (TDB)
On Monday morning when you’re all Oscared out, check out Go Fug Yourself, where two deliciously snarky fashion mavens run down the best and worst of the red carpet. (GFY)
