Hollywood Wrap-Up, Week of March 12, 2010

Time for your weekly dose of Hollywood medicine. Now when someone mentions that Big Story, you won’t be all, “Huh?” Instead you’ll be like, “Yes. I KNOW.”

Longtime Daily Variety critic Todd McCarthy has been fired, a move that makes no sense to many people. Robert De Niro will be playing Vince Lombardi for ESPN Films. (DHD)

Screening at Cannes this year: the Russell Crowe/Ridley Scott collaboration “Robin Hood” and Oliver Stone’s, “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.” (HWT)

If you had to choose a Hollywood odd couple, writer Noah Baumbach (“The Squid and the Whale”) and Brett Ratner (“Rush Hour”) are about as odd as you get. Nevertheless, the two are pairing up to work on an as-yet untitled heist movie. This should be interesting. (EW)
