First Time Filmmaker Wins Inaugural UK HDSLR Award

January 17, 2011 by Short Film

With Mother and Daughter, his very first short film, British photographer CJ Clarke has been awarded first prize in the first Open Shutter Awards.

Clarke produced three versions of the short film for the School Home Support charity, telling an emotionally charged story using strong photographic imagery.

One of the judges, Dominique Green, said of Clarke’s film:

“It’s an interesting film and is clearly done by a photographer. It’s the one that takes a step towards a new visual language that marries photography and film.”

The HD-DSLR Open Shutter awards were organised by the British Journal of Photography and Canon. Clarke, 27, shot his winning film using a Canon 5D Mk II. He’s worked on a few other projects since making Mother and Daughter, and you can see some of them on his website.
