Shaun Sullivan Delivers the Intense Practice of Suspension

May 12, 2011 by Short Film

Shaun Sullivan sent this to me the other day. It is an extraordinarily well done film on the act of suspension – suspending the human body from hooks that have been put through body piercings. What I like about what Sullivan has done is he shows us a stylish portrayal of an intense act. It takes real vision to balance authenticity and the sensibilities of your audience. Suspension does it well. The people who practice suspension and are accustomed to the intensity will be every bit has awed as a mainstream person who may be squeamish at the thought of it.

Sullivan succeeds in opening our eyes to an extreme world without being trashy or sensationalistic. Quite the opposite. His film is well shot, well edited and sophisticated in its execution.
