YouTube Sensation Freddie Wong
If you don’t know who Freddie Wong is you’re probably over 30. He’s a prolific guerrilla filmmaker who shoots special effects action comedy shorts with over 2 million subscribers to his YouTube page.
We had Freddie and his producing partner Brandon Laatsch participate in a Guerrilla VFX panel at last year’s PhotoCine Expo (his session is on the DVD). The panel was a huge success and I think it was an eye opener for the photographers in the room to see what can be done with cheap cameras, no budget and lots of enthusiasm. Freddie’s YouTube channel has had over 38 million views and that makes him a YouTube sensation. I can’t wait to see what happens when Freddie and others like him figure out how to effectively monetize this level of traffic.
