Scott Forestal was pushed out from Apple yesterday. The move seems like it’s going to have a positive affect on Apple’s software as Jony Ive moves into the alpha position of Human Interface design. Which, for many, including me, was a point of confusion. For all the stunning beauty of all of Apple’s products, the look of some of their own software was downright tacky.
But before you quickly dismiss Forestal as the problematic source of this aesthetic issue and cheer “adiós”, you have to understand that his influence on iOS is one of the reasons Apple’s mobile products are so successful.
John Gruber of Daring Fireball offers the best elucidation of the story.
