Sony A55 and NEX VG10

Recently I put on an event for Sony and Samy’s Camera at the Sony Studios Backlot in Culver City which featured the Sony A55 and NEX VG10. Friend and co-author Snehal Patel lent his expertise on practical filmmaking as he directed a scene with cosplay fairies that his girlfriend wrote and starred in. HDSLR Seminar In Los Angeles

I’ll be giving a seminar called “Intro to DSLR Video” on Tuesday Sept 27th 7-9PM at Samy’s Camera EDU Center (475 S Fairfax). It’s only $29 and I base this seminar on several chapters from our new book PhotoCine: Digital Filmmaking with DSLRs. I’ll go over why DSLR video is important; who’s doing what with it and why; the limitations of shooting with DSLR cameras and how to overcome those limitations; and how to get started as a photographer moving into motion. Roy Wagner Size Doesn’t Matter at Samy’s Camera

Next week Samy’s Camera is featuring some great speakers, classes, in-store manufacturer demos and specials during HDSLR Training Week.

The week starts off with Cinematographer Roy Wagner giving a free seminar called “Size Doesn’t Matter – Small Camera Production in Hollywood.

Join Cinematographer Roy Wagner ASC for “Size Doesn’t Matter – Small Camera Production in Hollywood” at Samy’s Camera Los Angeles from 2:00PM-4PM.

Roy will talk about his experience as a filmmaker who has used small cameras like the Canon 5D MKII. His philosophy is to get out and shoot with whatever is at your disposal and not wait for your ship to come in before starting your project. He will show examples of his work and talk about what considerations shape his camera and technology choices.
