Mark Harris’ exceptional essay on why movies aren’t going to get any better any time soon. You can read it as a mildly depressing expose of the current state of affairs or as a revelation for a direction for your own filmmaking.
The first time I visited the production of a television show I saw three good looking people standing on the set with small cardboard signs hanging from their necks. In large black letters with a jaggedness that comes from writing the line of the letter over and over in an attempt to make it more bold, each sign displayed the first name of the one of the stars of the show.
Howard Stern delivered scene by scene commentary of Private Parts, the 1997 movie staring Stern, during the movie broadcast yesterday on HBO. Peter Kafka wrote and interesting piece about the event over at All Things Digital.
