In the bar of the Rex Hotel in San Francisco I was having a drink with famed celebrity photographer Brian Smith. Elliot Erwitt walked up to us in a new, brightly colored, down jacket. He told us he was strongly persuaded to purchase his new jacket by his daughter because his old standby jacket had become old enough to stand on its own.
“Dinner with Fred” is one of the best shorts to come through the PCN screening room. It tells the true story of how chickens saved the life of a Canadian Lieutenant during World War II. Written and directed by Ben Proudfoot, who you’ll know from our story about his immensely popular documentary ink&paper, the short achieves a polished major motion picture feel for two reasons.
Time Out London has a fantastic interview with Daniel Craig. In it he talks about “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”, the reason for “Quantum of Solace” and the upcoming Bond movie “SkyFall.”

There are times when you encounter a movie trailer that is so intense that it shakes the foundation of everything you thought was possible.
I’ll be off to see True Grit tomorrow. I’m a whore for westerns which has got me thinking about an extended editorial about the genre. True Grit, which is directed Joel and Ethan Coen, is a remake of the classic movie of the same name that won John Wayne an Oscar.
