Tascam iM2 iPhone Recorder

There are a lot of cool gadgets coming out right now and we’re usually pretty selective with the “look at this” type of posts here on PCN but since I’ve covered using an iPhone as an audio recorder in the past I thought this would be of interest to our readers.

The Tascam iM2 attaches to an IOS device (iPhone or iPad) giving you a serious recording tool. I really like the idea of carrying a microphone to use with my iPhone around instead of another full sized electronic device in my laptop bag. Here’s a video from Tascam:

iPhone Video Blogging, What Worked and What Didn’t

On the Friday before NAB, I decided that I was going to try and live video blog from the show floor. I knew that I wanted to get information out quickly and efficiently and that I didn’t want to have to run back to the media room to ingest, transcode, edit, encode for the web and upload. Shooting video with a DSLR seemed impractical for my goals which was confirmed on site by Jared and his crew from Cinema5D who were doing a great job but working their asses off – I’m too old for that and life is too short.
