So Much for Objectivity

November 30, 2011 by News

I have said it over and over again, just because someone is in the right place at the right time, does not make them a photojournalist. It makes them a person with a camera, or, blech, a citizen journalist. A photojournalist is a person with a camera, training and an adherence to ethics and objectivity. Unfortunately CNN doesn’t it see it that way. … Continue Reading

June 29, 2010 by News

It’s a big day today for digital cinema – The Arri is shipping. Not really something that I can afford to shoot with but I see this as driving the industry forward. June 6, 2010 by News

Here it is, the world premiere event you’ve all been waiting for!

Nerd mom has finally finished the My Muffintop video. The song is a parody of My Pokerface, by Lady Gaga, and is supposing what it’d be like if Lady Gaga had a few kids, and moved to suburban Los Angeles. It’s all very “Be Kind Rewind meets Lady Gaga”. Lyrics are up on my blog: www.mymomsanerd.blogspot.com. I’ll be back in a few days tell tall tales of living room film studios, sunburned toddler who won’t dance, and how you really can’t shoot the 5Dmkii freehand without a Red Rock support rig. Enjoy!

The rise of the digital journalist.

May 4, 2010 by News

Gone are the days of a reporter going out on a story with a producer, camera operator and audio person in tow. In a world of declining ratings (and therefore ad revenue) for newscasts across the board and an instantaneous news cycle, the networks need a way to do it faster and do it cheaper. Now technology lets them do it. Sending out one person – two if they’re lucky – with a DV cam and a laptop to cover a story and feed it back via a broadband connection saves a lot of money.
